Kulgam police warns stringent action against those spreading baseless news on social media 1

Today a large number of people staged a protest in Ponewa Kulgam based on the rumors that the victim girl (name withheld) has died which is totally baseless as it is clarified that the said girl is alive and is under treatment at SKIMS Srinagar.

Action has been taken against kidnappers who tried to assault her sexually and outraged her modesty namely Aadil Ahmad Dar and Waseem Rehman Dar both the residents of Ashmuji Kulgam who were arrested within three hours after the complaint was received by District Police Kulgam and are behind bars. Regarding the incident case with FIR No.116/2020 U/S 341, 366, 376/511, 354, 323 IPC stands registered in Police Station Devsar and the charge sheet of the case will be produced before honourable court within the stipulated time.

Unfortunately, on social media platforms, some miscreants are spreading sensitive updates regarding the matter that could emerge as a great threat to peace and order.

Kulgam Police requested the general public to make use of social media platforms in a careful and positive manner and warns all the mischievous people that whosoever attempts to instigate the public by spreading baseless rumours and fake news having the potential to disturb peace will be dealt with strictly under law.
