Panun Kashmir held a meeting today to take stock of the developments post the release of the film Kashmir Files. The film has helped generate a renewed awareness about the Genocide of Kashmiri Pandits worldwide and stirred the consciousness of the countrymen in an unparalleled manner. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President Panun Kashmir Virender Raina and among others was attended by General Secretary Kamal Bagati, General Secretary (O) Upinder Kaul, Convenor PK Youth Sameer Bhat, P.K.Bhan, Kewal Krishen, Sameer Mattoo and Sanjay Kaul.Virender Raina while addressing the meeting said that the film Kashmir Files is based on facts and depicts the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in its true and right perspective. The director of the film Vivek Agnihotri deserves high praise for his monumental effort in highlighting the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits and we had told the illustrious director at the time of it’s special screening that the film deserves to be awarded an Oscar. The positive acknowledgement of the film by the political class of the country generates a lot of hope in the community that the long pending issues of genocide and exodus would be addressed.Virender Raina said that Panun Kashmir has been highlighting the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in all the forums across the globe for the last three decades and as a result of our efforts the National Human Rights Commission acknowledged that ” acts akin to genocide were committed against the KP community “. Panun Kashmir has over the years demanded that a commission of enquiry be set up that would go into the causes for the eruption of terrorism and fundamentalism in the valley and expose the support structures that nurtured the eco system of terror and separatism in the valley and across the country and fix responsibilities and bring the perpetrators to justice.Upinder Kaul said that the only comprehensive solution to reverse the genocide is to bring the perpetrators of the crimes against humanity to justice and by the creation of a separate Homeland in Kashmir for the Internally Displaced KPs.
