Jammu and Kashmir Government Takes Action Against Two Senior Police Officers
Srinagar, Oct 01 : In a recent development, the Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the suspension of two senior police officers, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Sheikh Adil, who was recently arrested on corruption charges in Srinagar.
According to the J&K home department, Adil Mushtaq, Deputy Superintendent of Police, has been suspended with effect from September 21, 2023. His arrest was related to case FIR No. 149/2023, which included charges under sections 7, 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and sections 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, 221 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). During his suspension period, Adil will be attached to the Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir.
In a separate order, the home department also suspended Additional Superintendent of Police Budgam, Gowhar Ahmad Khan, with immediate effect. The suspension is pending an inquiry into his conduct. Similar to Adil, Gowhar Ahmad Khan will remain attached to the Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir during his suspension period.
“Pending enquiry into his conduct Gowhar Ahmad Khan, Addl. Superintendent of Police Budgam, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. It is further ordered that the Officer shall remain attached with Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir, during the period of suspension,” reads the order.
