Inspirational Journey of Heena Lateef: Empowering Women and Redefining Success in Rural Banihal

Banihal,24July:  Heena Lateef, a 27-year-old woman hailing from a remote village in the Banihal area of Chenab region, has carved a remarkable path as an entrepreneur. Despite facing setbacks in her pursuit of a government job after completing her MA in English Literature from Jammu University, Heena’s resilience and determination led her to embark on a different path.

Frustrated by the challenges and unfair practices in government job exams, Heena decided to take matters into her own hands. Alongside her husband, she explored various business ideas and eventually conceived the notion of establishing a food processing unit in the Chenab region.

With the backing of the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Heena and her husband secured the necessary loan to bring their vision to life. In 2022, “Sheikh Enterprises” was born, becoming the first food processing unit in the Chenab region, Ramban District.

What makes Heena’s venture even more remarkable is her commitment to women’s empowerment. In her factory, she exclusively employs women, providing them with a means to earn their livelihood and thrive independently. Presently, seven women work diligently in her unit, showcasing the power of gender inclusivity in the workforce.

Her delectable range of snacks has garnered praise from shopkeepers and vendors in Ramban District and beyond, inspiring Heena to dream even bigger. With the support of the community, she aims to expand her offerings, introducing a variety of new snacks to tantalize taste buds far and wide.

As a testament to the government’s focus on women’s empowerment, Heena’s story serves as an inspiring example of how women, whether in rural or urban areas, can take charge of their destiny by venturing into entrepreneurship. By creating jobs and opportunities for others, Heena Lateef’s journey exemplifies the true essence of empowerment and success.
