Illegal mineral extraction: J&K Police seize two vehicles in Shopian, register two FIRs

As part of its sustained drive against illegal mining, J&K Police have seized 02 vehicles (one Tipper and one JCB) involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the Sugan and Keegam areas of the district Shopian.A police party of Police Post Turkwangam during routine patrolling intercepted one vehicle (Tipper) found illegally extracting minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, a case FIR No. 01/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation has been initiated. Similarly, Police party from Police Post Keegam intercepted one JCB indulging in illegal mining activities without valid royalty documents. In this connection, a case FIR No. 01/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated.J&K Police reaffirm their commitment to protecting the natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining. The general public is urged to cooperate by reporting such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept confidential and stringent action will be taken against violators.
