Gunshots heard as forces lay siege to Shopian village
Government forces on Saturday launched a cordon and search operation at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A police official said that mixed columns of army personnel, SOG and CRPF men launched a search opearton in Heff Shirmal village of the district early morning.
“The operation was launched after forces received inputs about the presence of militants in the area,” the official said.
He said that all the entry and exit points of the village were sealed and door to door searches conducted. Few gunshots were heard during the operation,as per locals.
