Government teachers in Anantnag flout tuition ban

Anantnag: several government teachers/ lecturers are violating the norms here in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district after the Jammu and Kashmir government bans teachers lecturers from giving private tuitions on Jan 15.

According to sources, scores of government teachers/ lecturers in various places in Anantnag district were taking tuition in private institutions coaching centers and violating government norms here in Anantnag District.

Sources said that in Kokernag Sagam area two coaching centers namely “Dreams coaching center” and “Insight coaching Academy” witness Government teachers/lectures taking classes, left the government order in dustbin violating norms.

Complaints also received from the other places in Anantnag District including Dooru Achabal Shangas and Mattan area, where government teachers lectures are taking classes violating government norms.

Sources said that the concerned ZEOs of the areas were keeping mum on the issue even though they all know about the ban on government school teachers and lecturers from taking classes at private coaching institutes.

Meanwhile The School Education Department imposed a complete ban on government school teachers from taking classes at private coaching institutes.

The move comes in the wake of the implementation of the Right to Education Act-2009 in J&K as the RTE Act 2009 became applicable in Jammu and Kashmir in October 2019 following the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution by the Government of India.

Talking to the Arising state ZEO Kokernag Mohd Mustafa said that “I will look into the matter and the action will be taken against the violators in Kokernag area.”

He said that “we also received complaints about the coaching centers in Kokernag area. if the government teachers are found taking classes in the private coaching centers, action will be taken against them.”
