Government again increased driving license and RC validity, now valid till 31 December 2020
In view of the increasing cases of coronavirus infection, the central government has once again given relief to the common man. The government has extended the validity of the driving license, vehicle registration certificate (RC), permit, and fitness certificate. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Monday extended the validity of driving license and RC till 31 December 2020.
Validity increased for the third time
Government offices are no longer functioning at full capacity due to the first lockdown due to coronavirus infection and now social distancing. For this reason, the government has increased the validity of documents required for the vehicle, including driving license, for the third time. The government first extended the validity of these essential documents on March 30 and after that on June 9. This validity was ending on 30 September. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has stated that the validity date of these documents is being extended to 31 December 2020 under the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.
Common people will get relief
The ministry has said that this decision has been taken in view of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the country. This decision will provide relief to the common people of the country in availing transport-related services. The Ministry has asked enforcement authorities to consider these documents expiring between 1 February 2020 and 31 December 2020 as valid and do not take any action related to expiry.
