Goosu Pulwama encounter:Police version

Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday issued a statement regarding the Goosu Pulwama Encounter in which one unidentified militants and an Army personnel was killed.
As per police statement that reads ,”based on specific input generated by Pulwama Police regarding the presence of militants in the village Goosu area of Pulwama, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by JKP, 53RR and 183Bn CRPF in the said area.

During the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the joint search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In the ensuing encounter, 01 unidentified militant was killed and his body was retrieved from the site of encounter. Searches of the area still going on. The identification and affiliation of the killed militants being ascertained.

During the encounter, one Army personnel identified as Naik Rajvinder Singh of 53RR was critically injured during the said encounter and was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom. IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar and all ranks of Police and Security Forces have paid rich tributes to the brave-heart for his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Besides one Army personnel and one JKP personnel also injured in the said encounter.

Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.

Keeping in view the prevailing pandemic due to COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of people from the inherent risk of contracting the infection, the dead body of the killed militant will be sent to Baramulla for burial and last rites after completion of medico-legal formalities.

In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been initiated.
