GMC Anantnag sees a rise in pocket thefts

Anantnag: GMC Anantnag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district is plagued by thieves making life miserable for patients and attendants.

Official sources told Arising state that 45 theft cases have been reported in the last month in GMC Anantnag,so far.

Sources said that the thieves have stolen cash from several attendants and patients in GMC Anantnag who often roam inside the hospital premises.

Shabeena Jan an attendant while talking to Arising state said,”I had visited GMC for treatment of my sister, but unfortunately my purse along with the cash of 10000 rupees was stolen here by unknown people. Another attendant Shaziya Bashir who hails from Shopian village said that thieves have also stolen her purse along with cash of 7000 rupees. After consulting the doctor in OPD, I went out to get my mother’s medicine when thieves stole my purse, shazia said.

Attendants and patients described a rise in theft incidents at the GMC Anantnag over the past few months and appealed to authorities to identify and book those responsible.

However, sources said that some CCTV cameras installed in GMC Anantnag premises have been dysfunctional and not working from the last three months. The locals urged the administration to look into the rising theft incidents in the GMC hospital ,Anantnag and demanded adequate security and monitoring at hospitals and other health centers.
