Gauri Healthy Heart Project to be launched in J&K on 29 Sep
Gauri healthy heart project is an initiative led by renowned Kashmiri cardiologist Dr. Upendra Kaul.
Dr. Kaul is one of the top Cardiologists in New Delhi and has an experience of over 35 years. Dr. Kaul is one of the first Cardiologists to start coronary interventions in India. He has served the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as a professor of cardiology and has been a member of the faculty of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, G. B. Pant Hospital, Batra Hospital, and Fortis Health Care, NCR and Executive Director and Dean at Fortis Health Care, New Delhi. Kaul is a former president of the Cardiological Society of India and the SAARC Cardiac Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS). He received the highest Indian award in the medical category, Dr. B. C. Roy Award, in 1999. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2006, for his contributions to Indian medicine. He is also a recipient of the Dr. Thapar Gold Medal in 1970, Searle Award of the Cardiological Society of India in 1986, Shakuntala Amirchand Prize of the Indian Council of Medical Research in 1987, Press India Award in 1992.
Objectives of Gauri Healthy Heart Project (GHHP)
The project Gauri Healthy Heart Project is being formally launched on 29 September in J&K, the world heart day, an international campaign held on September 29 to inform people about cardiovascular diseases, which are the biggest cause of death. The first of its kind, medical camp under GHHP, will be conducted in the Kupwara district and gradually extended to other districts of J&K.
100 patients previously screened by the respective District Health department on basis of their need, illness, and income status to be beneficiaries of GHHP J&K. Strictly under the Covid-19 protocol as per UT of J&K government rules and WHO guidelines. The entire project will be monitored through the Chief Medical officer and Block Medical Officers to ensure beneficiaries chosen are needy, well-deserving, and as per approval criteria. On the day of the medical camp, three doctors and paramedical staff will be available Clinical tests list to be conducted include Blood tests, Blood pressure monitoring, Chest X-ray Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) Electrocardiogram (ECG) Electrophysiology studies. … Equipment and medical supplies needed will be provided. Digital data collection including photographs of each patient. Create MRD Nos and a digital record of each patient and upload it on the website. Delhi team will be responsible for all professional services.
Dr. Zubair Saleem (MD Geriatrics) will examine all patients to map out all other illnesses if any of the patients to be screened.
