Gateway of Gulmarg turns into garbage dumping site

Local residents are up in arms against the authorities for allowing miscreants to dump solid waste material here.

” Some people are dumping the solid waste material and other garbage illegally on the roadside of National Highway,” they said. “Why government is shutting eyes towards the open violation of the law, Who will be responsible if it causes health problem in the area,” locals questioned.

Locals added that in view of expected grand Christmas and new year celebrations at famous Ski resort Gulmarg, administration are busy with decoration, renovation of Gulmarg to make it look more attractive and make brighter and full of life.

The local residents added that all the administrative officers and concerned authorities are travelling on the same road for Gulmarg but “unfortunately they are not the serious attitude towards this concerned authorities is unmoved.”

“We can’t describe how foul it smells here. We are worried that an epidemic will spread here if the authorities will continue to shut eyes towards the problem,” said a local resident who has now stopped going to Gulmarg.

Meanwhile, locals have appealed to the Governor led administration especially DC Baramulla to personally look into the matter so that people can breathe a sigh of relief, (KNS)
