First trout farm using Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) technology established in Awantipora

Awantipora: The Jammu and Kashmir’s first ever trout farm using Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) technology was established in Jawbehara area of Awantipora in South Kashmir on Saturday.
The farm was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Information & broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Dr. L. Murugan, in presence of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary, officers of Fishery, and other dignitaries.
With an estimated cost of ‘2.75 crore’, the farm has been established by a BBA student, named Hinna Parray of Jawbehara area in Awantipora tehsil, after govt provided ‘70%’ subsidy under ‘Sampada Yojana’ scheme.
Talking to the Arising State, Hinna said the idea to establish this farm flashed my mind, when I used to go for fishing to Anantnag and Pahalgam side, with my father.”
She said ,”I poured my heart out to my father who helped me out to put up this farm.
Hinna added ,she, “wants to extend this farm and wants to export trout to other parts of the country.”
During the inaugural function of this trout farm of RAS technology , MoS Dr. L. Murugan said that they are outreaching to the people, to implement the central government programmes.
He said that they ‘welcome new entrepreneurs’ with ‘new concepts’ and facilitation under ‘Sampada Yojana’, and give them subsidy to setup the units.
