Fire engulfs Syedabad Pastuna Tral forests

TRAL, October 23: Many trees have reportedly suffered damage on Friday evening after a fire broke out in a forest area in Pastuna village of South Kashmir’s Tral Sub-district.
Some of the locals informed Arising State that a fire broke out in a forest area of Syedabad-Pastuna in Aripal tehsil of Tral, damaging a number of trees, within a short span of time.
They said that fire broke out today evening suddenly, and has been spreading now.
Forest fire in the said area, as per the locals, was yet to be extinguished when this report was filed in.
A forest official, when contacted, said that the fire broke out in the jurisdiction of the wildlife zone.
Range Officer, Wildlife, Iqbal Khurshid has however told Arising State that “efforts to control the fire are going on and a team has been already rushed to the area.”
