The Civil Secretariat and other move offices of Jammu & Kashmir government will re-open in summer capital Srinagar today as part of bi-annual Darbar Move.

Amid tight security arrangements  put in place at the Secretariat and other offices the civil secretariat and other moving offices of J&K government will open here on Monday

Darbar Move is over 145-year-old practice under which the Secretariat and all other important offices in the state shift from summer capital city Srinagar to winter capital city Jammu on a rotation of six months.

The Raj Bhavan, civil secretariat and over 50 offices are part of the Darbar Move. This practice was started by Dogra rulers in 1872.

Official sources said that as part of tradition Governor Satya Pal Malik will receive a guard of honour at civil secretariat this morning.

They said all requisite arrangements have been put in place for the smooth functioning of Darbar Move offices in Srinagar.

Ahead of Durbar move, authorities have given facelift to civil secretariat and roads leading towards it. “We have also carried out renovation of government accommodations, where the Durbar move offices will stay,” an official said.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Choudhary said all necessary arrangements have been made for smooth functioning of Durbar Move offices in Srinagar.
