Dr Farooq, Omar Abdullah condole demise of Legendary athlete Milkha Singh

Srinagar, 19 June: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of country’s legendary sprinter Milkha Singh, who breathed his last after battling post Covid complications, saying the country will remember his commitment to excellence.

In his condolence message Dr. Farooq said, “Inspiring generations after generations, Milkha Singh held sway over the country’s young and old with his agility. A legendary sports person, in his passing away, the country has lost an inspiring figure, whose contribution to the field of athletics will be remembered for all the times to come. On his demise I pay my earnest tribute to him and pray for peace to his departed soul,” he said.

Omar Abdullah, while expressing grief over the passing away of the legendary athlete said, “An institution unto himself, his drive to win came to him so naturally; his life and struggle; his achievements and his eventful life speak volumes about him.  Countrymen cutting across generations respected and loved him for bringing moments of glory to the nation from time to time. On his demise, I pay my tribute to him. May the departed soul have eternal peace,” he said
