Don’t pay heed to rumors about renewal of old vehicle documents: RTO Kashmir
Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir Ikram-Ullah Tak on Thursday refuted the news reports wherein it was stated that no documents of 15 years old vehicles will be renewed onwards, saying special teams have been given task to look into the matter and act accordingly.
Talking to local news agency the officer said that the reports which went viral few days ago were absolutely baseless and have no relation with facts.
Tak said it was routine of the government to review the status of old vehicles and issue further directives accordingly as per the circumstances.
“We were given an extension to such vehicles sometimes 5 years or sometimes 10 and after such vehicle was proved disastrous for environmental stability, and the process will remain to continue in future also”, Tak said.
He said an earlier policy of the department regarding revision of vehicles stands existent and there is no change in it.
RTO appealed to people not to pay heed to rumors and repose good faith in authorities.
