Deliberate delay in construction of Zainapora-Imamshab Shopian road questionable: PDP leader Aijaz Ahmad Mir
Srinagar,17 October: Senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former MLA Wachi, Aijaz Ah Mir has castigated the authorities for delaying the road construction of Zainapora-Shopian road.
Chiding authorities the delay, Mir said that “tall promises made by administration are falling flat and people are paying a heavy price for non completion of the road.”
“The Bijbehera-Imamsahab- Nagbal-Shopian road is life line of District Shopian and is a vital link that connects the hilly region with Anantnag and National Highway. The said road was sanctioned under CRF(49.50 crores)in 2016 and till now only 40% of work has been completed,” Mir said, adding that underlining that the delay is not just affecting common masses but has badly hit the horticulture sector.
He further said that “Shopian is apple producing hotspot and non-completion of this vital road has impacted the apple trade and other allied sectors as well.”
“Since the administration has miserably failed in completing the road I am thus forced to request Prime Minister’s intervention so that work is resumed on double shift basis and that the vital project is completed,” Aijaz Mir issued.
“I also urge the administration to fix responsibility on those due to which it’s completion has been delayed,” he added.
