Jammu, February 6: Police Station CICE Jammu has successfully secured ₹39.90 lakh out of ₹52.90 lakh in a major digital arrest cyber fraud case reported by a retired Air Force officer.

According to police officials, the complainant filed an online complaint stating that he had been kept under “digital arrest” for nine days and was coerced into transferring ₹52,90,000 to fraudsters before approaching the authorities.

Acting swiftly, the Crime Branch launched an investigation, immediately tracing beneficiary bank accounts and following the money trail. Within three hours of receiving the complaint, investigators traced ₹11,90,000 to a suspected Yes Bank account in Jodhpur. The amount was promptly placed on hold under the newly issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

Further action led to the marking of a lien of ₹4,90,000 in subsequent linked bank accounts. Continued coordination with concerned banks enabled officials to trace an additional ₹28,00,000 in a second layer of suspected accounts.

With these efforts, a total of ₹39,90,482 of the defrauded amount has been successfully secured.

Police said the recovered funds will be remitted to the complainant’s account shortly through the competent court, providing significant relief to the victim and his family.

Officials described the case as the first operational use of the newly issued SOP by PS CICE Jammu in a live financial fraud investigation, highlighting its effectiveness in tackling cybercrime.

The operation was led by DySP Albeena Malik JKPS, SHO PS CICE Jammu, along with Inspector Pradeep Singh and HC Rakesh Choudhary, under the supervision of SSP CICE J&K.
