The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Court of City Judge (Sub Registrar), Srinagar, in a large-scale job fraud case registered as FIR No. 49/2022.
The case, registered under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), relates to allegations of cheating unemployed youth from the Tangmarg area by luring them with fake job offers.
According to officials, the accused, Reyaz Ahmad Taploo, son of Mohammad Sidiq Taploo, a resident of Anchaar Dagapora, Soura, Srinagar, allegedly promised employment as security guards in reputed hospitals and banks. He reportedly collected several lakhs of rupees from job aspirants on the pretext of providing appointments.
Investigations revealed that Taploo issued forged appointment letters and even supplied uniforms to make the offers appear authentic. The EOW further found that the accused was operating a fictitious NGO—“SAI NGO Consultancy” as a front to deceive job seekers.
The investigation established that the accused forged documents and used them as genuine, thereby committing offences of cheating and forgery, officials said.
After completion of the investigation and other legal formalities, the chargesheet was presented before the competent court for judicial scrutiny and trial.
Meanwhile, the Economic Offences Wing has advised the public to remain vigilant and verify the credentials of recruiting agencies before making any financial transactions related to employment.
