Congress is the only party, which can restore statehood with constitutional guarantees: Surinder Singh Channi

Pulwama,18 Nov: Senior leader and general secretary Jammu and Kashmir congress party, Surinder Singh Channi, on Wednesday, said that their party has the potential to restore statehood to Kashmir.

Talking to the media persons, Singh said that “Congress is the only party, which can restore the statehood to Kashmir, with constitutional guarantees”

He reacted to Amit Shah’s statement on the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), and said that “calling Gupkar Alliance, a ‘Gang’, is not good”.

Singh said that “we should respect each other and no one should make a claim that Kashmir is now connecting to India, but should remember that it was Maharaja and Sheikh Abdullah family, who had agreed to accede to India long time back”

Talking about DDC elections, he said that “people should stay away from the BJP and its associates, and appealed people to cast votes in congress party’s favour”.

“Congress believes in secularism. It has always worked for the welfare of people in Jammu and Kashmir. We have given chance to youngsters, and people should vote for the development,” Singh said.

It’s pertinent to mention here that Singh was on a visit to Tral, where a Congress candidate Manpreet Singh filed nomination papers for DDC elections from Aripal tehsil of the sub-district.
