Congress Alliance: Farooq Abdullah confirms seat-sharing deal between NC and congress for J&K Elections
Srinagar, Aug 26: The National Conference (NC) and Congress have formalized a pre-poll alliance for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, announcing a seat-sharing arrangement. According to the agreement, the NC will field candidates in 51 constituencies, while the Congress will contest 32 seats.
In a joint press conference held in Srinagar, leaders from both parties confirmed the alliance, highlighting their shared goal of addressing the region’s challenges. Notably, of the 32 seats allocated to Congress, two will be left for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and the Panthers Party, with each party contesting one seat.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Tariq Hameed Karra, while discussing the alliance details, mentioned that there would be a “friendly contest” on five seats in the Union Territory. He assured that these contests would be conducted in a disciplined manner, reflecting the spirit of cooperation between the two parties.
The announcement marks a significant step in the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, as both parties seek to consolidate their positions ahead of the elections.
