Cloud burst hit Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road; BRO Project Beacon Responds Swiftly

Srinagar, 04 Aug 2024: At approximately 12:30 AM midnight, a cloud burst struck the strategic Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road leading to Ladakh, causing major blockages at three locations – Cherwan (Km 44), Kullan (Km 69) and Gagangir (Km 71) due to huge debris.

​In an immediate response to this natural calamity, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Project BEACON mobilised its resources of 122 RCC/ 32 BRTF including personnel, plant and machinery to address the critical situation. Their swift action resulted in the clearance of all slides within the same day, allowing traffic to resume with minimal disruptions.

​The dedication and prompt action of the BRO Project BEACON in ensuring the safety and connectivity of this important axis received wide appreciation from the commuters
