Budgam Police arrests notorious drug peddler; Contraband substance recovered

Budgam Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested notorious drug peddler in Malpora crossing in central Kashmir and have seized contraband substances from his possession.
A police statement reads, ‘in its recent action against drug dealings in Budgam,  a notorious drug peddler was arrested and contraband substance from his possession was recovered.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Malpora crossing intercepted an individual identified as Manzoor Ahmad Beigh resident of Malpora-Khag. During checking, officers were able to recover 100 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Khag where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 60/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khag and investigation in the matter has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings
