BJP Leader Devender Rana Accuses NC of Seeking Alliance with BJP in 2014
Jammu, Sep 03: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana has stirred controversy, alleging that the National Conference (NC) approached the BJP with a “begging bowl” in 2014, seeking an alliance but was rebuffed by top BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah. Rana claimed that a delegation led by Omar Abdullah, of which he was a part, went to Delhi in 2014 to form an alliance with the BJP, even agreeing to have a BJP Chief Minister in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the proposal was rejected by the BJP leadership, leaving the NC delegation empty-handed.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Rana expressed surprise at Omar Abdullah’s recent comments regarding Ram Madhav’s alleged connections with the PDP. He criticized the NC for what he termed “politics of deceit,” accusing the party of demonizing the people of Kashmir and engaging in opportunistic politics.
Rana also addressed NC’s claims about changing the name of Shankaracharya Hill, asserting that as long as the BJP is in power, no such change would be allowed. He further criticized the NC’s stance on stone-pelters, accusing the party of wanting to release them from jail despite their role in the unrest of 2008 and 2010.
Rana concluded by suggesting that the NC, led by Farooq Abdullah, could still be open to forming an alliance with the BJP, despite its current pre-poll alliance with Congress. He also remarked on Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s inconsistency in political statements, emphasizing that the BJP will not allow the situation in J&K to regress to the turmoil of previous years.
