Basmani Bhatnoor residents of Tral demand up-gradation of power transformer
BASHARAT RASHID
Tral, 22 Feb: The residents of Basmani locality in Bhatnoor village of Tral in South Kashmir have demanded the up-gradation of the power transformer.
A group of locals assembled near the 25 KV transformer of the village and alleged that authorities failed to replace it with 63 or 100 KV transformer, ‘which could mitigate the power issues’ in the village.
One of the residents Mehraj Ud Din Sheikh told Arising State that “only 25 KV transformer is available for around 70 families in the area, which is injustice.”
He said that they have been approaching the officials of the concerned department to replace it with high capacity transformer, but ‘nothing’ has been done.
“We have been constantly demanding the high capacity transformer in our locality, and moved from pillar to post to redress our grievances, but no step has been taken so far,” Mehraj said.
The residents demanded immediate intervention of higher authorities into the matter and said that they will disconnect their lines if the transformer is not replaced.
When contacted, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina, said that matter is under consideration in Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) Awantipora.
