Barring Pahalgam and Gulmarg , mercury stays above sub-zero level in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb, 21 : Barring Pahalgam and Gulmarg, the minimum temperatures remained above sub-zero level across Kashmir Valley, the weatherman said on Sunday.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 1.4°C against 3.6°C on the previous night.
Qazigund, the gateway town of J&K, recorded a low of 0.0°C against minus 1.0°C on the previous night.
The mercury settled at minus 1.8°C at Pahalgam against 1.2°C on the earlier night in the world-famous tourist resort in south Kashmir.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.5°C against 1.8°C on the previous night, he said.
The minimum temperature settled at 0.2°C in Kupwara against 1.2°C on the previous night while Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort, recorded a low of minus 0.5°C against 0.0°C on the earlier night, he said.
The weatherman has forecast a wet spell in wake of a western disturbance likely to affect J&K and Ladakh from February 22 evening to February 27.
“During this period, light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely mainly on 22nd (night), 23rd, 26th and 27th February in Kashmir region,” the official said.
