Tral, August 9: Amid the ongoing recovery of rotten meat in various parts of Kashmir, authorities today launched a special drive in Tral town to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. The joint operation, carried out by the Food Safety Department, Police, and the Municipal Committee Tral, focused on inspecting eateries in the Bus Stand and Uptown areas.
During the inspection, several restaurants and food outlets were checked for hygiene standards and adherence to food safety norms. Violations were detected at multiple establishments, leading to the issuance of Challans and imposition of fines.
A total penalty of ₹19,700 was collected from erring businesses during the drive.
Speaking to the media, an official from the Food Safety Department emphasized the importance of such inspections, stating that these drives will continue across the region to safeguard public health. He also urged consumers to remain vigilant and cautious while purchasing meat and other food items.
The move comes as part of a broader campaign to clamp down on the sale of substandard and unsafe food products in the Valley.
