Authorities impose strict corona lockdown after markets witnesses huge rush of people on Tuesday
Authorities today enforced the strict lockdown to contain an alarming surge in coronavirus cases in the union territory.
The strictness by authorities was witnessed a day after several areas in Kashmir witnessed a huge rush of people ahead of the Eid festival.
Security forces have sealed all main roads and erected barricades at many places in the city and other towns to stop the movement of people.
The movement of people including officials involved in essential services and emergencies were allowed after proper verification.
An official said that the restrictions were tightened after gatherings were witnessed at many areas of the valley for Eid shopping.
The rush was so much that traffic jams were witnessed on Tuesday in several parts of the city and other towns.
On April 29, the Jammu and Kashmir administration imposed a curfew in 11 districts to tackle the surge in COVID-19 cases, which was subsequently extended to all the 20 districts the next day.
