Article 370 not only temporary but transitory and special: Soz

Share

Jammu: Prof. Saifuddin Soz, Former Union Minister today said that“Amit Shah has followed the path of his predecessors and repeated the absurdity of describing the nature of Article 370 of the Constitution of India as temporary. The truth is that the Constitution of India describes Article 370 not only as temporary but transitory and special, as well. But, then, the question is why couldn’t it be abrogated, replaced or even amended, all these years! It is precisely because the Kashmiris would not allow that thing to happen unless the very dispute on Kashmir was resolved.

This is what people like Amit Shah have to understand. The people of Kashmir have time and again made it clear that unless the dispute on Kashmir is resolved, this Article, despite its erosion over a period of time, guarantees Internal Autonomy of the J&K State. It can, therefore, neither be abrogated nor amended against the will of the people of J&K State!Amit Shah would be well advised to explain to the RSS/BJP cadres that this Article could not be changed during the past 70 years, since the independence of India, simply because people of Kashmir would not allow that to happen! He can also take them into confidence on why the BJP had accepted the compulsion of including its abrogation in their successive Manifestos, over a period of time, only to befool the electorate!”
