Arigam Kulgam encounter was intelligence based operation: IGP Kashmir
An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam’s Arigam area, leaving four security personnel injured including a senior police officer.
IGP Birdi said, “Security forces received information about terrorist movement late at night. When they reached, they were fired upon, initiating the encounter,” he said .
The injured personnel – three security forces and one police officer – have minor injuries and are in stable condition, he added.
The operation is ongoing, Birdi added.
Meanwhile, IGP Birdi confirmed that preparations are complete for the third phase of J&K assembly elections in five North Kashmir districts.
“The J&K police has made all necessary arrangements for the upcoming phase,” he said.
