Tral, 05 October: The Anganwadi workers in Tral have staged a silent and peaceful protest near Bus Stand, demanding a hike in their salary.

The aggrieved workers lamented that they have been working very hard since their appointment, and stay on the front all the time but, their demands for a hike in pay are yet to be fulfilled.

They said that they are always being called to attend the duties in each and every program of the sub-district, unlike other departments.

A worker Shaista Akram has said that workers are apparently facing a tough time, as they even attended COVID-19 duties as well, that too without transport facilities.

She said, “most of the time, workers were having no fares to travel and had to get the fares from their family to reach their duties.”

Another worker has narrated that they work overtime on many occasions but are getting very low pay, due to which they are not able to meet their needs.

The workers have demanded an immediate hike in their salary .
