Anantnag: Government Middle school in shambles, Authorities in deep slumber

Anantnag: In the small village of Anantnag, nestled in the heart of the Kashmir valley, the dilapidated condition of a government school building has become a major concern for the local residents. The Government Middle School Babdar Zone Dooru, established in 1981 and upgraded to a middle school in 2010, is housed in a four-room building lacking basic facilities. The walls of the building have cracked, and the structure is at risk of collapsing, putting the lives of the 46 enrolled students and seven teachers in danger.
Despite the repeated appeals from the local residents, the Anantnag Education Department has been complacent in addressing the safety audit plan for the school buildings. The locals have accused the authorities of being in a “deep slumber” and have expressed their fear that the building could collapse at any time, especially during the rainy season.
While talking to Arising State the concerned parents have pleaded with the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag to take immediate action to resolve the matter. They fear for the safety of their children, who are studying under the shadow of death.
The locals claimed to have approached the concerned authorities several times, but “nothing has been done yet”.
The residents have requested Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to look into the matter to ensure that the school building is made safe and address this issue on priority and urgency.
