Anantnag CAPD issues APL cards to BPL families in Nagbal Hapatnard village

Anantnag, o4, Nov: A number of poor families from Nagbal Hapatnard village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag District have alleged that the Anantnag CAPD department has issued them APL ration card instead of BPL.
Nagbal residents have alleged that many people who are living below the poverty line in the village have been categorized in the APL list by the Anantnag CAPD department. Residents said that almost 50% of people are living a life below the poverty line in the village but unfortunately the Anantnag CAPD department has been categorized all into the APL list and they are being deprived of everything.
Talking to Arising State Mohd Amin Khan a resident of Nagbal Hapatnard village said,” I am labor by profession and the Anantnag CAPD department has issued me APL ration card instead of BPL card which is injustice with my family.” Amin alleged that the CA&PD department has randomly issued APL ration cards to the locality without taking the financial strength of residents into consideration.
”We have moved from pillar to post for the last several years to get BPL ration cards, but to no avail”, said Amin.
Amin alleged that the department has issued BPL cards to government employees, businessmen in the village Amin added.
Another resident said that the CAPD department is putting people to extreme inconvenience as they have requested dept. to look into the matter at the earliest so that residents can heave a sigh of relief, but unfortunately neither the concerned department’s officials visited the village nor the department took any action to redress the grievances.
Nagpal Hapatnard village is a remote village of Anantnag District and about 25 km from the main town Anantnag, the village caters to about 300 households mostly people living below the poverty line in the village.
Meanwhile, Arising state tried to contact the Assistant Director food Anantnag but his phone was on out of reach mode.
