Anantnag Admin fails to clear snow on main roads despite Metrological department’s warning of heavy snowfall

Anantnag 03 January: After the first day of continuous snowfall in Anantnag district most of the roads that connect to the Anantnag town remained cut off as the Anantnag administration failed to clear snow on the link and main roads, while the electricity remained cut off.
The Arising state received several complaints from the inhabitants of the Anantnag district who purported that they had to face tremendous inconvenience as the authorities here have failed to clear snow from link roads as well as on the main roads.
Residents of Larnoo, kamad, Bonadialgam, Wani Hama, Hiller, and other areas of the district complained that the district administration has failed to clear snow from the main roads, This has badly affected the movement of vehicles and pedestrian traffic, they said.
According to residents majority of link roads leading to Anantnag town were still out of bounds for people.
The link roads like Soaf Shali road Larnoo to Leesu Brannard road, Gadol road, Dandipora road, kamad to Dialgam road, watrigama Wani Hama to Anantnag road are still under snow cover.
Arshad Ahmad, a local resident who hails from Soaf shall kokernag, said that not a single machinery from the administration has cleared snow, till evening, on Soaf shali road which connects the Anantnag road. We were stuck at home due to the non-availability of transport, he said.
He said that the authorities have totally failed to clear snow from roads, the villages of these areas had to face tremendous inconvenience,Arsheed said.
On top power scenario in most of the areas in Anantnag District is also not adequate, the locals of these areas are reeling under darkness even before the snow started.
Mohammad Hussain, who hails from wanihama said that most of the villages were under darkness from the very first day of snowing. The authorities are nowhere to be seen, he said.
Meanwhile, officials of the Metrological department Kashmir had already predicted heavy snowfall in South Kashmir and moderate to heavy snowfall rain with thunderstorm most likely to continue till Wednesday 6 afternoon.
