Pulwama, 17 Dec: Peerzada Syed Dawif, the 18-year-old poet from the Peernad hamlet of Noorpora village of Tral subdivision of South Kashmir has been preparing for the NEET exam (entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses).

Dawif, a humble and passionate poet has drawn his inspiration from Adnan Shafi, another young author from a nearby village Chandrigam Tral, and his debut poetry collection ‘Screams of Silence’, was published recently.

Speaking to Arising State  Dawif disclosed the hardships he faced amid poor internet connectivity since the area he lives in is already a poor network zone.

Dawif said, “I decided to pen down a book centered around the Kashmir conflict and aspects of nature, during  COVID-19 lockdown when people all over the country were confined to their homes.

Talking to the Arising State, Dawif said that his motive to write his debut book was to do something good for society because as per him  ‘pen is the better option’ to do that.

Dawif said, “I started writing in COVID-19 lockdown, as I had a desire to do something good for my society. In my first book, I encompassed a wide range of themes, ranging from nature to its different seasons, with Kashmir conflict as the heart of the book,”

In a reply to a question about who inspired him to publish his debut book, Dawif said that inspirational stories on social media incited him, following which he started working hard to achieve his dreams.

He further said that a well-known author from his nearby village, Chandrigam Tral, namely Adnan Shafi, ‘inspired’ him the most, as Adnan’s book ‘Tears fall in my heart’ motivated Dawif to author his own book.

While giving a message to the aspiring writers, Dawif said that one  should work hard, “as the Kashmir has a lot of talent, which need to be explored.”

It’s pertinent to mention here that several young and budding writers from the region have come to the fore much to the delight of book lovers in recent times..
