Jammu, July 2: Amid tight security and spiritual enthusiasm, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday morning flagged off the first batch of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.

Chants of “Bum Bum Bhole” and “Har Har Mahadev” echoed as the convoy of pilgrims set out towards the sacred cave shrine nestled in the Himalayas.

Two batches comprising more than 3,500 pilgrims left Jammu early this morning under elaborate security arrangements.

Security has been intensified along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), with strict surveillance and protocols in place to ensure the safe passage of yatris.

In a social media post, LG Sinha stated, “Wishing all spiritual seekers a safe and comfortable journey to the holy abode of Lord Shiva and a deeply soul-stirring experience. Prayed to Baba Amarnath for peace and blessings to all.”

On Tuesday, the LG visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar to personally review arrangements. He inspected food and lodging services, registration counters, medical care, sanitation, power and water supply, transport facilities, and emergency response systems.

He also interacted warmly with devotees and extended wishes for a safe and spiritually enriching yatra.

Earlier this week, LG Sinha chaired an all-party meeting to brief political leaders about the preparations and held discussions with civil society groups, trade bodies, and religious organisations. He also led several high-level security meetings to assess overall preparedness for the yatra.
