Altaf Thakur extends greetings to Sikh community on 352nd birth anniversary of ‘Guru Gobind Singhji’

Says teachings of 10thguru of the Sikhs relevant today, pays rich tributes to spiritual, religious personality

Srinagar, Jan 16: Senior BJP leader and party’s JK spokesman Altaf Thakur extended his warm greetings to Sikh community on the occasion of 352nd birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singhji and termed him the great personality and a revolutionary religious figure.

In a statement issued to Arising State, Thakur said, “born in Patna, Bihar, Guru Gobind Singh was a warrior, poet, and philosopher whose ideas and teachings are worshipped by the Sikh community and are relevant today.”

He said that, “Guru Gobind Singh was a great personality in Sikhism, known for his teachings on equality, justice, and selflessness. He fought for the rights and dignity of every person, regardless of background, and resisted injustice and oppression.”

“Guru Gobind Singhji is also known for establishing the Khalsa Panth, a group of initiated Sikhs who adhere to a strict code of behaviour. The first five Khalsa members were initiated on Vaisakhi Day in 1699, representing the origin of the Khalsa identity,” Thakur added.
