Anantnag 02,Nov:  The residents of various villages in Anantnag district are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide adequate electricity in their areas.

Inhabitants of various villages including Ashajipora Kamad, Chrichri pora, Lalan, Brinty, Dialgam, Bonadialgam Hakura and Koshipora, are up in arms against the PDD Department for unscheduled power curtailment in their villages.

Talking to the Arising State, the residents of these villages said that the Power Development Department (PDD) is subjecting them to unscheduled power cuts in the freezing cold. Residents said that with the unscheduled power cuts in the area,  people are being forced to take to the streets.

”We are facing regular power cuts for the last one month even when the area is fully metered, said Rasiq wani ,a resident of Bonadialgam.

”We are continuously pleading before the higher-ups in this regard while the authorities assured us to redress their grievance but the promises done by the authorities proved a hoax, he said.”

Residents said that they are facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of electricity in their areas. The authorities have miserably failed to provide adequate electricity especially in the evening hours, thereby leaving us to lurch at large, residents said.

Sources said that many other villages in Anantnag District are also enraged over unscheduled power cuts in the day as well as night hours. The situation is no different in metered areas. The power development has allegedly started unscheduled power curtailment in almost all the villages in Anantnag District, even the metered areas are also not being spared with the department going for further power curtailments.
