Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani Calls for End to Dual Control in J&K
"Restoration of statehood essential for addressing the J&K's unique challenges"
Speaking at an art exhibition for amateur artists in Srinagar, Wani highlighted that a unified governance model, achieved through the restoration of statehood, is essential for addressing the J&K’s unique challenges.
“J&K cannot operate efficiently with this divided control. Security can remain with the LG, but the Chief Minister needs full authority over other administrative areas to make quick, effective decisions,” Wani explained, emphasizing that recent incidents in J&K underscore the need for stable governance. “Restoring statehood is essential for J&K,” he said according to KNS correspondent.
Reiterating that National Conference is committed to fullfill all the promises made with the people, Wani said the people of J&K just need to show some patience as very little time has passed since Government formation.
He also said that there was no need for Protest on Darbar Move as Chief Minister had issued the order two days before.
Regarding the Chief Minister’s visit to Delhi, he said that all the central Government leadership assured that they will co-operate with the J&K Government for the betterment of people.
At the exhibition, Wani also praised the talent of local amateur artists.
He commended the artists for their passion, noting that their works were driven by creative expression rather than commercial motives. “These artists are here to showcase their culture and talent, not for profit. Supporting their work helps preserve J&K’s rich heritage,” he remarked.
