Market checking intensified in Tral, special inspection team to monitor markets twice a week

Tral, 17 November: Market checking was intensified in Tral sub-district of South Kashmir on Tuesday, an official said.
He said that on the direction of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tral, S A Raina, a special market checking squad was framed by the ADC’s office vide Order No: ADC/Gen/Tral/20/3116-20 and 3122-26, regarding non-regulations of sale of essential items, Medicine, Mutton, Chicken, Fruits, Vegetables, etc.
As per the press release issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Tral, a team of officers is constituted to carry out bi-weekly Inspections, which include; Ex Magistrate Tral, EO MC Tral, Station House Officer Tral, Drug Inspector, Live Stock Officer Tral, TSO Tral A and B.
On Tuesday, the team conducted an inspection of various markets viz, Fire Service Chowk, Aab Ghar, Kadi Masjid Chowk, and Trag Chadaye Chowk in Tral Town ahead of winter to keep a check on hoarding, profiteering, and black marketing.
Strict directions were given by the Addl Dy Commr Tral to the officers to conduct extensive drive of market checking across Tral SD in wee hours of the morning and afternoon, keeping in view the public friendly administration in SD Tral.
The team visited various areas to curb the unwarranted practice of hoarding and profiteering especially in respect of Medicine, mutton, poultry items, Fruits, and Vegetables.
During the checking, it was found that various butchers and poultry dealers were selling mutton and broiler birds at exorbitant rates.
Acting tough on such defaulters the squad made sales of the different items at government notified rates among the general public.
Besides, a fine of Rs 6800 also recovered from the defaulters who were found guilty of violating the government notified rates.
Addl. Dy. Commissioner Tral has appealed to people to purchase the items at government approved rates and if they find anyone indulging in overcharging may be reported to his office for immediate necessary action.
