Mehbooba bats for Indo-Pak dialogue, saddened over casualties at LoC
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday expressed concern over casualties on both sides of the LoC and impressed upon Indo-Pak leadership to rise above their political compulsions and initiate dialogue and restore ceasefire agreement.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the former CM of J&K said, “Sad to see mounting casualties on both sides of LOC. If only Indian & Pakistani leadership could rise above their political compulsions & initiate dialogue.”
According to defense sources, five BSF personnel and four civilians were killed in Pakistani firing on the Line of Control in several areas of north Kashmir on Friday. They said that Pakistani troops fired indiscriminately in Uri sector in the wee hours of Friday, resulting in the death of two soldiers and four civilians.
