Tral, 10 Nov: The hospital building in one of the villages of Tral has been awaiting its completion, with no intervention from the concerned authorities for more than 5 years.

Sources told Arising State that even after the passing of more than five years, the construction work on the new building of Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Lalpora-Kahlil village in the Tral sub-district is yet to be finished.

On Tuesday, a delegation of locals, outside the hospital building, said that more than five years have passed since the foundation stone was laid for the health centre in Lalpora, but it is yet to be completed, showing the lackadaisical approach of the authorities.

The government, as per the locals, had earlier issued orders for the up-gradation of infrastructure for Lalpora’s PHC, following which work was started, giving some sort of relief and satisfaction to the people.

They said that the construction work of the building was undertaken by the housing board department, however, they failed to complete its work even after years, due to which patients suffer.

“We have been facing many issues as the centre operates from two rooms only. Construction of new building with the facilities would have mitigated our problems but, unfortunately, it took many years so far, and is yet to be completed,” a local told Arising State, adding that Lalpora Primary health centre caters to many nearby areas.

The staff members posted in the centre also complained of hardships, in view of space constraints in it, and said that the rooms (available for PHC) they are working in, witness the good flow of patients throughout the day.

One of the officials has said that staff strength is sufficient here, however, some of the staffers have been taken to other places, in view of lack of space.

Meanwhile, the residents demanded immediate intervention of authorities in completing the work on the health centre in the village, to heave a sigh of relief from day to day hardships.
