Tral, 28 October: Inhabitants of Koil-Shikargah & Ladibal in the Tral subdivision in Pulwama district of South Kashmir have been facing difficulties due to the lack of clean water supply in the area for the last ‘three’ days.
The aggrieved residents have said that in absence of potable water supply, villagers in these areas have to fetch either contaminated water or have to wait for the water tank of the department.
They said that they are to get a clean drinking water supply for a few days but, no action is being taken, due to the reasons better known to the concerned authorities.
One of the residents said: “We are facing inconvenience here in absence of potable water for the last three days and authorities have failed to resolve our issue .,”
Another resident has said that the district administration is supplying water to these villages through tankers for the past few days
but that is insufficient to cater to the needs of the village .
The locals appealed to higher authorities to intervene in the matter as soon as possible to resolve the water crisis in the area.
An official in the Jal Shakti (PHE) said that the water crisis has emanated in the area due to the strike of mechanical wing of employees of the department.
Despite several attempts, officials in the mechanical wing of the department couldn’t be contacted for their version on the issue.
