Jammu and Kashmir BJP Vice President, Yudhvir Sethi said the three ordinances related to agriculture were in the interest of farmers. He said this would give the farmers a fair price for their produce and would also boost their income.

Sethi was speaking at the programme oragnised by Jammu District West unit wherein a Tractor Pooja was performed by him in presence of Omi Khajuria, President BJP Kisan Morcha J&K.

Sethi said misleading myths are being spread about the Farm Bills by certain vested interests who are trying to provoke the farmers for petty political gains. He said that a widespread campaign has been unleashed to misguide the framers into believing that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) has been stopped whereas in the Bills there is no such reference to the MSP system, which obviously indicates that MSP system will continue as before.

Sethi maintained that, the Farm Bills brought by the BJP Government at the Centre will lead to the democratisation of the farming sector by giving the farmer freedom and choice to sell his crop to anyone, anywhere and if he wants, to earn more profits by joining the big companies. At the same time, in none of the Bills, there is even a slightest indication that the Mandis will end, which in other words means that the market system will continue as before and the Agricultural & Food Policy Center (AFPC) will also be in place.

Sethi accused the Congress and political parties of misleading farmers on the Farm Bills, and urged BJP workers to spread awareness on the benefits of the new legislation. He said there was a greater need to create more awareness about the Farm Bills as the opposition has always used farmers as a vote-bank and was now trying to mislead them.

Omi Khajuria said that the Bills would transform the agriculture sector and also raise the farmers’ income. He added that the government had also promised double farmers’ income by 2022 and the Centre said that the Bills will make the farmer independent of government-controlled markets and fetch them a better price for their produce. The Bills propose to create a system in which the farmers and traders can sell their purchase outside the Mandis. Further, it also encouraged intra-state trade and this proposes to reduce the cost of transportation, he added.

This programme was organised by Block President Keshav Chopra in which State Office Secretary Rajesh Dogra, State Media Secretary Vijay Sharma, State executive Member Ajay Sharma, Distt Vice President Billu Angral, Harjeet Singh, Yudhvir Singh, Deepak Sharma and Rahul were also present.
