Samboora Encounter: DGP holds presser in Awantipora
Awantipora: A press conference was held by Director General of Jammu & Kashmir police Dilbag Singh in Awantipora on Monday, following a gunfight at Samboora village in South Kashmir.
In a presser, Singh said that “for the last one week, operations were launched in South Kashmir, which remained successful like in Tral, Anantnag & Samboora.”
While talking about Samboora encounter, Singh said that “militants were given chance to surrender, however, they continued firing against forces.”
He further said that “militants tried to escape from the spot but, a cordon was laid tightly by the forces after that operation continued for the night.”
“Early in the morning, two militant bodies were found dead. AK 47 & AK 56 were recovered from their possession. They were identified as local militants of the Awantipora region,” DGP said.
As per DGP, “one among the killed militants named Aijaz Ahmad Reshi, was involved in many attacks and had transported militants in EDI attack.”
About Ashmipora Shopian fake encounter, he said that “police inquiry is going on and further investigations are personally monitored by concerned SSP.”
“Moreover, the police are working swiftly in Babar Qadiri’s killing case and have got some clues as well. The case will come to the conclusion soon,” DGP added.
