Geelani not tested Covid-19 positive, keeping well: Family
The family of senior pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday refuted rumors that ailing Geelani is infected with Covid-19.
Talking to our correspondent Naseem Geelani, younger son of the ailing leader said ,” I’m shocked over why some miscreants spread lies regarding my father, it is unfortunate that some miscreants are spreading unfounded news about my father. Don’t know what intentions are behind it”, he said.
He also said the incarcerated Geelani is weak but keeping well. “My father is weak due to age factor but he is keeping well as compared to winters. Covid-19 news attributed to him is absolutely fake”, Naseem Geelani said.
Pertinently, the 91-year-old leader recently resigned from the chairmanship of Hurriyat (G), an amalgam of dozens of pro-freedom groups. However, he is still a member of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat which he founded in August 2004. The senior pro-freedom leader is continued to be under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence for a decade.
