Gunfight erupts between security forces and millitants;schools closed, Internet suspended
Gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Sopore sub-division of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday morning. Reports said that a joint team of the army and police cordoned off Mir Mohalla in Gund Brath village and launched searches today morning following “specific” inputs about the presence of militants there. “Area has been cordoned off,” as per reports. The anti-militancy operation is being jointly carried out by the 22RR army, SOG and , CRPF. An official said that the contact with hiding militants and the exchange of fire is going on. Two to three militants are believed to be trapped inside. Soon after the siege was laid authorities suspended the Internet service in Sopore and closed the educational institutions.
