Mostly dry weather forecast across J&K, isolated rain/thunderstorms likely from October 6

Srinagar, Oct 4: The Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, has forecast mainly dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, while isolated light rain or thunderstorms are likely at some places over the subsequent two days.

According to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday, both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions are expected to experience dry weather on October 4 and 5. From October 6, isolated precipitation is likely, followed by scattered activity on October 7 and 8. Fairly widespread precipitation is expected over Kashmir on October 9, while isolated activity is likely to continue on October 10. 04-10-2026

The weather outlook indicates isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds from October 8 onwards. The IMD has indicated the possibility of gusty winds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph at isolated places, along with the possibility of snowfall over higher reaches on October 8.

For October 5, Srinagar is likely to remain mainly clear to partly cloudy, with a maximum temperature of around 32°C and minimum of 12°C. Jammu is expected to record around 33°C and 23°C, while Muzaffarabad and Mirpur are likely to record maximum temperatures of 32°C and 36°C, respectively. 04-10-2026

The IMD forecast shows no significant weather warning for October 4 to 7. However, isolated thunder/lightning and gusty winds are indicated for both Kashmir and Jammu divisions from October 8 onwards. 04-10-2026

Meanwhile, the weather remained dry across most stations on Sunday, with Srinagar recording a maximum temperature of 31.2°C and a minimum of 11.7°C. Pahalgam recorded 25.8°C and 7.2°C, while Gulmarg recorded 23.2°C and 9°C. Jammu recorded a maximum of 33°C and a minimum of 22.5°C. No rainfall was recorded at the reporting stations during the period covered by the bulletin. 04-10-2026

The IMD has advised people to remain updated as weather activity is expected to increase over parts of J&K from October 8.
