Sinha Calls for Inclusive Growth, Women’s Empowerment on I-Day

Srinagar, Aug 15: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar to mark the 80th Independence Day, with a ceremonial police contingent presenting the National Salute.

Paying tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs of the Independence struggle, Sinha also remembered civilians who lost their lives in natural calamities during the year.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor called for renewed efforts to build a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir, urging citizens to work with integrity and protect the freedom secured through the sacrifices of generations.

He expressed confidence in India’s potential to emerge as a global leader and stressed the need for balanced development, economic empowerment of women, greater opportunities for youth and employment generation.

Sinha also emphasised environmental sustainability, citing initiatives such as the revitalisation of heritage sites, restoration of ancient monuments and large-scale afforestation drives as part of the administration’s development agenda.

Calling for greater public participation in nation-building, he said transparency and accountability in governance were essential to achieving the vision of a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir and Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The Lieutenant Governor congratulated J&K Police and CAPF personnel who received gallantry medals on the eve of Independence Day and lauded local sportspersons for bringing recognition to Jammu and Kashmir.

He urged people to renew their commitment to serving the nation with greater sincerity, dedication and vigour.
